Incoming rantiness.
Once again, I feel belittled, mocked and humiliated by a close member of my family. Staying in her house, I feel constrained, unhappy, unworthy; the same feelings I had in my teenage years with their attendant lack of self-respect, compliments, confidence and individuality.
The clothes I like to wear are not good enough. The clothes I like are 'okay if you're slim I suppose' or 'don't really suit your body' - subtext: I don't like them on you and you're a big fat Fatty McFatterson, how dare you want to wear clothing which might possibly expose - GASP - your arms! Your bottom! How dare you presume to expose your girthy rear to the world! It will BLOCK OUT THE SUN AND MANKIND AS WE KNOW IT WILL PERISH!!!
Which is why I'm wearing plain black work trouser and a frumpy tunic top, not the bangin' lace patterned leggings and short dress I was earlier.
While I go away and cry angrily and try to frantically build up lost self esteem, I encourage you all to join in with the 'I Love My Bum' campaign.
You are all beautiful and you all deserve love.

Oh Lou, I think it's sad that this person has such an effect on you! I admire your style, and think you shouldn't let yourself be told what to do / wear / be by anyone!
So sorry someone has made you feel this way. Shame on them. Try not to let them get you down. Be the fabulous and gorgeous woman you are and sod their stoopid opinion. x
Oh Lou,
I remember those remarks and that coming from a close friend in school...well, not so much friend eh?
What I wish I knew then was that such remarks are never true
and should be ignored at all costs
((easier said than done, I know))
THERE IS A SAYING I ONCE HEARD FROM A PREACHER IN MY HOMETOWN-DON'T LET ANYONE TAKE YOUR JOY AWAY. THAT IS ALL!

This is why I have little to do with most of my family. I deserve better than to be treated like that.
And you do too.

We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world.
